With a background in science and maritime studies, Gema Garcia’s journey toward sustainable fashion began during her academic pursuits. As a first-generation Mexican-American, Gema completed an Associate of Science degree, where she explored the connections between marine ecosystems, human activities, and environmental harm. She later earned her Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, further deepening her understanding of global environmental challenges and human rights issues. During her studies, Gema became acutely aware of the devastating impact of the fashion industry on the environment and workers' rights. She was particularly struck by the practices of fast-fashion brands and the lack of transparency in even high-quality fashion labels. This awareness sparked her vision of a clothing brand that chooses sustainability and ethical practices over anything else.

 

Jonathan Luna

Jonathan Luna brings a unique perspective to Lotuz, rooted in his experience and his commitment to continuous learning and innovation. With a professional background that combines technology marketing and a strong understanding of business operations, Jonathan’s expertise has been instrumental in building Lotuz’s brand identity and strategy. His experience in navigating technology and marketing provides a unique edge in creating a digital-first, customer-centric approach for Lotuz. Jonathan’s entrepreneurial mindset and passion for sustainability align seamlessly with Gema’s vision, making Lotuz a brand that redefines the standards of ethical fashion.
